Chocolate and Vanilla Coconut Macaroon Cookies

Chocolate and Vanilla Coconut Macaroon Cookies

Passover's treat, baked all year long.

Years ago, when my friend Josh worked at Zingerman's he taught me about "traditional" Passover macaroons. "Real Passover macaroons are supposed to be terrible. They should come in a can and taste like dirt and glue.”

In spite of my interest in traditional food, I guess I fail here. That's OK by me, since I think these are good enough to eat all year long, not just at Passover. Our coconut macaroons are slightly crunchy on the outside, rich and creamy on the inside. Simply put, they're the best-tasting coconut macaroons I’ve ever had anywhere, with a buttery, coconut aroma that stays with you like a strong memory. We package a dozen (six chocolate and six vanilla) into a Zingerman’s gift box.

Nibble on them for a light dessert, alongside afternoon tea, or a midnight snack.

The ingredients in these handmade cookies are coconut, coconut milk, egg whites, sugar, and sugar syrup, plus vanilla bean paste or chocolate.

This product is not Kosher. Made with cane sugar.

This product is gluten free. Although the ingredients of the macaroons are wheat free, they are made at Zingerman's Bakehouse where we use wheat flour in other products. If your wheat or gluten intolerance is severe consult with your physician before consuming.
