Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Truffles

The pumpkin spice truffles from Fruition Chocolate in upstate New York are both a trick and a treat.

The trick is how much flavor they pack into each quarter-size truffle—a cross-section looks like the layers of Earth’s core. At the center is lightly spiced, chewy handmade butternut squash caramel. The caramel is surrounded by crunchy pumpkin seed gianduja, which is then enrobed in creamy brown butter milk chocolate.

The truffles are tucked into a moody seasonal tin illustrated by a local Hudson Valley artist.

The treat is that they are outrageously delicious.

I guess another trick would be finding a way to not eat all of them in one sitting.
